Ive been a licensed hairstylist for 26 years and an educator for nine years.  In 2010, ICD Haircare Center was established.  Because I have a love for educating, training, and business, I decided to start ICD Phase II, a mobile training academy.  However my love for business began to grow.  I enrolled in Strayer University to earn my degree in Business Administration.  Looking at my own industry experience and life, I realized that most beauty professionals are only taught how to enhance their skillset.  Who teaches them about business? At 65, most will be behind the chair because they have to be, not because they want to.  Our businesses lack professionalism, consistency, customer service, a vision and mission statement.  Nor do we hire, train or manage our staff properly.  Most of us never use effective business communication and we are totally confused about what branding and marketing is.  There is a great need that has been overlooked in the beauty industry for centuries and I have endeavored to fix that need.  On September 17th-18th, 2018, I held the Bay Area's first beauty industry business conference in Oakland, CA.  My ultimate goal is to make sure every student and  beauty professional is clearly educated and informed on the true aspects of doing business as a professional or a salon/barbershop owner.
